(WRDW/WAGT) – Groundhog Day has always been a deep-rooted tradition in American culture and folklore, in which a groundhog would predict whether it would be an early spring or if there would be six more weeks of winter just by seeing (or not seeing) its shadow.
Here's a list of what Groundhogs across the country are saying:
- Punxsutawney Phil (PA): Saw shadow, six more weeks of winter
- General Beauregard Lee (GA): Did not see shadow, early spring
- Staten Island Chuck (NY): Did not see shadow, early spring

How does it work? If the groundhog comes out of its little burrow and sees its shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter. If it doesn't see its shadow, then it's time for spring!
